About the District
The 70th Assembly District is one of the largest in the state. More than 90 miles long, the district includes parts of Jackson, Monroe, Wood, and Portage counties.
The 70th is also one of the most gerrymandered districts in the state. In some places, communities are split down the middle. In other places, voters have been drawn onto small islands.
This is why I believe in Fair Maps. The people should pick their elected officials, not the other way around. The current map was created behind closed doors by lawyers. We need to follow the lead of states like Iowa, where district maps are drawn by an independent commission.
